Services Held for Christine Madsen

Funeral services for Mrs. Christine Madsen, 96, who died in Van Tassell, Oct. 11, were conducted from the Peet Chapel at two o'clock Sunday afternoon, Oct. 14 with Rev. Jacob Nein officiating.

Internment was made in the Van Tassell cemetery and the casket bearers were Lawrence Adams, Harve Zerbe, Frank Martin, Geo. Siebken, Hill Boyles and Wm. Henritze.

Mrs. Madsen was born in Denmark July 11, 1855 and was married to Chris Christensen who died shortly before the family was to come to the United States. However Mrs. Christensen did bring her children and come to this country in 1888 where she made a home for her family.

In 1891 she married Gordon Hewitt and moved to Pierce County, Nebr., where they lived until 1915 when they moved to Niobrara County, Wyo. Mr. Hewitt died in 1930 and later she was married to M.C. Madsen who also preceded his wife in death, in 1941.

Since that time Mrs. Madsen has made her home with her son, Chris Christensen in the Van Tassell community and it was at his home that she died, Thursday evening.
