Rev. West dies
Word was received in Harrison Wednesday morning of the death of the Rev. John Roy West, formerly of Harrison and the Van Tassell communities and now of Shickley, Nev. Rev. West died in his sleep.
Memorial service will be held Friday morning in Shickley with a funeral service to be at the Methodist Church in Harrison Saturday morning at 10:00.

Memorial service here for The Rev. Roy West
A memorial service was held here Saturday for The Rev. Roy West, 58, who died Nov. 8 in his sleep at his home in Shickley, Neb.
The service was held at the United Methodist Church with clergymen, C. G. Willis, Davenport, and Wayne Tieszen, Harrison, officiating. Mrs. Robert Todd, organist, accompanied Ann Tieszen and Neicca Willis who sang and a special duet composed of The Rev. and Mrs. Willis who sang "He Holds My Hand," Rev. Willis paid a special tribute to Mr. West.
Casket bearers were nephews of Mr. West, Dale Buckley, Joe Dunlap, Ben Dunlap, John West, Bill Fry and Dennis Brott. Interment was in the Harrison Cemetery.
J. Roy West was born to Victor C. West and Elsie B. Turner West on May 15, 1920, at home in Goshen Couty, Wyoming. Roy was one of five children.
West and Gertrude Seifert Helme were married on April 5, 1953, after his return from World War II where he had seen action. They made their home at Harrison.
He was recommended at Harrison to be a minister of the Gospel. He, with his wife, served at Crookston and Kilgore, Callaway, Benedict and Bradshaw, Gudrock and Inavale, Ericson and Bartlett, Monroe, and at the time of his death he was a member of the Triune Parish, consisting of Shickley, Ong, Ohiowa, Bruning nad Davenport.
Mr. West was preceded in death by his father and one grandson. He is survived by his widow, three stepsons and families: Richard and Carol Helme, HalfMoon Bay, Calif.; Raymond and Susan Helme, Elko, Neb.; Larry and Madelon Helme, Odessa, Tex.; nine grandchildren; his mother Elsie West of Van Tassell, Wyo.; two brothers, Clarence of Van Tassell, and Frank of Crawford; two sisters, Leota Solick of Lincoln; Mrs. James (Ruby) Brott of Crawford; one aunt, Mrs. Dola Tremaine of Mo.
