Carl Dean of Node Dies Here Tuesday, Funeral Thursday

Death claimed Carl Worthington Dean, 62, at the Spencer hospital at 12:20 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 28.

Mr. Dean came to Wyoming 36 years ago and built up a ranch one and a half miles east of Node which he has operated until the present time. He entered the hospital about ten days ago suffering from a heart ailment and failed to respond to treatment.

Born at Whiting, Iowa Dec. 20, 1885 he came to Wyoming in 1911 and since that time has been associated with the life of this community.

Funeral services will be conducted from the Peet Chapel on Thursday at 2:00 p.m. by the Rev. Harry F. Porter, pastor of the Church of Christ of Bayard, Nebr.

The casket bearers will be Harold Fosher, Menno Kaan, Jennings Ruffing, Don C. Taylor, John Wasserburger and Ray Walters.

Interment will be in the Lusk cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Ella and son Carl, Jr., one brother, Fred Dean and two sisters, Mrs. Lula Byers and Mrs. Verna Reed all of this community.

Last Rites For Carl Dean Held Last Thursday

The last rites for Carl W. Dean were conducted from the Peet Chapel on Thursday afternoon by Rev. Harry F. Carter, pastor of the Church of Christ of Bayard, Nebraska.

The songs, "God's Way," "Ivory Palaces" and "Beyond the Sunset" were sung by a quintet of Manville friends. They were Mr. and Mrs. Beryl Fullerton, Mrs. Geraldine Alexander, Miss Ruth Ladwig and Merrill Hatcher, with Mrs. Emma Richardson as accompanist.

Interment was in the Lusk cemetery and the casket bearers were Harold Fosher, Menno C. Kaan, Don C. Taylor, Jennings Ruffing, John Wasserburger and Ray Walter.

Carl Worthington Dean was born at Whiting, Iowa, December 20, 1885, the son of Columbus and Ella Dean, and grew up in that community, moving to Wyoming with his parents in 1911, and soon after coming to this locality they purchased the Geo. Voorhees ranch on the Running Water, east of Lusk.

On October 30, 1930, he was married to Miss Ella Pfister and they are the parents of one son Carl William. Several years ago they purchased the old Henry Gray ranch and have built it into one of the nicest ranches in this vicinity. Mr. Dean has always been engaged in stock-raising and ranching.

In early life he became a member of the Christian Church at Whiting, Iowa, and was an active church worker the greater share of his life.

A heart ailment and other complications claimed his life at the Spencer Hospital, Tuesday, October 28th.

Surviving him are his wife, Ella, and son, Carl; one brother, Fred Dean of Node; two sisters, Mrs. Lula Beyers of Node and Mrs. Verna Reed of Manville.

His mother and father have preceded him in death.
