Robert L. Cross Takes Own Life

Robert L. Cross, about 63 years of age and a former resident of Lusk, took his own life at his home in Chadron, Nebr., on Monday, May 8th.

Mr. Cross had been and engineer on the Chicago & Northwestern Railroad for some 40 years and he and his wife made their home in Lusk for about five years, before moving to Chadron about a year ago.

Details here are meager but it is understood that Mr. Cross had suffered several severe heart attacks and while in a despondent mood, shot himself while in the bathroom of the family home.

Funeral services are to be conducted in Chadron at 10 a.m. on Thursday and the remains will then be brought to Lusk for burial in the Lusk cemetery.

Robert Cross Buried Here Thurs

Committal services for Robert L. Cross were held at the Lusk Cemetery on Thursday afternoon, May 11, at one o'clock, by the Rev. Clyde E. Hampton.

Mr. Cross took his own life at his home in Chadron, Neb., Monday morning, May 8th. Funeral services were conducted in that city Thursday forenoon at 10:00 o'clock, with arrangements in charge of the Erlewine Mortuary. The remains were then brought to Lusk for interment, where arrangements were in charge of the Peet Mortuary.

The casket bearers were Harold Scriven, Herb Klindt, Jennings Ruffing, A. F. DeCastro, E.M. Criss and Sam Thomas, Sr.

Mr. Cross was born in Hemingford, Neb., 61 years ago and has been an employee of the Chicago & Northwestern Railroad for nearly 45 years.

Mr. and Mrs. Cross had moved to Chadron from Lusk less than a year ago.
