Gottfried Klopfer of Node Dies

Gottfried Klopfer of the Node community died at the Spencer Hospital on Monday, January 24, and funeral services will be conducted from the Peet Chapel on Thursday at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Mann Flint officiating.

Mr. Klopfer would have been 79 years of age if he had lived until Wednesday, January 26. He had been in declining health for several years and was recently taken to the hospital from Node, where he resided on a ranch with a sister, Miss Aline Klopfer.

Other survivors are a brother in California and a niece, Mrs. Marguerite Fietz, and nephew, Pete Germann, both of Lusk.

Services Held for Gottfried Klopfer

The final rites for Gottfried Klopfer were conducted from the Peet Chapel on Thursday afternoon, January 27, with Rev- Mann Flint, pastor of the Open Bible Standard Church, officiating.

A male trio, composed of Rev. Lawrence P. Juell, Rex Yocum and Bob Willson, sand "What a Friend We Have in Jesus," "Nearer My God to Thee" and "The Old Rugged Cross". They were accompanied by Mrs. J.P. Watson.

Interment was made in the Node cemetery, with the following friends conveying the remains to the final resting place: Herbert Sabin, William Speerly, Clarence Sides, Otis Bump, Charles Lund, Sr., and Ray Walter.

Gottfried Klopfer was born in Fruutigen, Switzerland, January 26, 1870, and died at the Spencer Hospital in Lusk on Sunday, January 23. He lacked only three days of reaching his 79th birthday anniversary.

Mr. Klopfer came to America as a young man in April of 1893 and settled for a time at Fairbury, Ill., and then moved to Peoria, Ill., where he engaged in the florist business for a number of years.

In 1899 Mr. Klopfer was married to Lydia Waner and they were the parents of one daughter, Ida. Both have preceded him in death.

Coming to Wyoming in 1910, Mr. Klopfer homesteaded south of Van Tassell, but in recent years has made his home with two sisters on a farm south of Node. One of the sisters, Miss Bertha Klopfer, passed away November 12, 1947, and two other sisters, Mrs. Marie Cartier of Switzerland and Mrs. G. Germann of Node died on the same day, February 2, 1947.

Surviving him is one sister, Miss Aline Klopfer of Node; a brother, Henry Klopfer of Paradise, Calif.; a niece, Mrs. Marguerite Fietz, and a nephew, Pete Germann, both of Lusk. Also surviving are a niece and nephew living in Switzerland.
