John Snook Dies at Lingle Sunday

John Snook, former rancher in the Rawhide Buttes area in northwest Goshen County, died at Lingle Sunday night.

He has been off the ranch for some seven years and had retired at Lingle. Surviving besides his wife are two sons, Frank and Robert.

Funeral services were being held at Lingle this Wednesday afternoon. Mr. Snook's father, an old soldier, is buried at Lusk.

Services Are Held For John Snook

Funeral services for John H. Snook were conducted from the Community Presbyterian Church of Lingle on Wednesday, April 27, with Rev. Clayton M. Shotwell in charge.

Music was furnished by Jackie Hoitsma, Jean Hill, Emily Rayo and Doris Snakenburg, with Mrs. Fred Sieck as accompanist.

The casket bearers were Mel Stephenson, T.E. Thompson O.A. Curry, Walter Bingham, Marlow Houston and Ben Webber.

John Hill Snook, the son of Isaiah and Amanda Snook, was born at Fairbury, Neb., on November 1, 1875, and died at his home in Lingle, Wyo., on April 24, 1949, at the age of 74 years.

On March 8, 1912, he was married to Ora Willis at Chariton, Iowa, and in 1916 they came to Wyoming and settled on a homestead near Douglas. In 1928 they moved south of Lusk where they resided until 1940, when they moved to Lingle, where they have since resided.

Mr. Snook is survived by his widow, one son, Robert, of Lingle; a stepson, Frank Snook of Casper; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Leona Mondou of Tacoma, Wash.; three grandchildren and two great grandchildren; three brothers, Ambrose Snook of Salem, Oregon; Fred Snook of Hillsborro, Oregon; William Snook of Sioux Falls, So. Dak., and three sisters, Mrs. Nancy Henderson of Buena, Washington; Mrs. Catherine Henderson of Norfolk, Neb., and Elsie Snook of Salem, Oregon.
