Last Rites Held For Mrs. Steele

Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 12, for Mrs. Haley Steele, who died April 10 following an extended illness. The services were at the Peet Mortuary and were conducted by Mr. and Mrs. H.F. Carter of the Church of Christ. Burial was in the Lusk Cemetery.

Mrs. Steele was born Eva Mae Shields, at Albaia, Iowa, on November 4, 1881. Her early life was spent in Iowa, and she married Haley M. Steele at Ottumwa, Iowa, March 12, 1902. They were the parents of two sons, George E., of Sundance, Wyo., and David H., who died June 9, 1923.

The family came to Lusk in 1923 and except for a few years spent at McGrew and Minatare, Neb., they have lived here since.

Mrs. Steele was converted at the age of 12 at Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and later joined the Church of Christ at Albia, Iowa. She retained her membership there after coming west where the Church of Christ was not represented. The establishing of the Church of Christ here the past year meant much to her, even though she was unable to attend its services.

Through the late years of her suffering her husband has cared for her.
