August Larson Dies in California

Word has been received by relatives here of the death of August Larson at his home in San Mateo, Calif. Monday, June 1.

Mr. Larson, who was a resident of Lusk for many years, died suddenly of a heart attack. Mr. and Mrs. Bryan Burge visited Mr. and Mrs. Larson a couple of months ago and he appeared in the best of health at that time.

Born in Norway in August 1888 Mr. Larson came to the United States as a young boy, stopping first in Minnesota, he spent some time at the homes of Lewis Larson, parents of Mrs. Glen Cates, and the Andrew Johnsons, parents of Mrs. Bryan Burge. He then came to Lusk where an aunt, the late Mrs. Lena Henry, owned and operated the Northwestern Hotel and after being employed by his aunt for a number of years, he and his cousin, Mrs. Carrie Brown, purchased the Northwestern Hotel when Mrs. Henry built the Henry Hotel, now the Spencer Hospital.

He was married here to Miss Amy Barnes and they have a son, Charles "Buster" Larson who resides in Idaho.

About 10 years ago he was married while living in Cheyenne where he was employed at the airport and later transferred to California where the couple has since made their home.

Funeral services will be held at Palo Alto, Calif., on Thursday, June 4. Besides his wife and son, surviving are three granddaughters, a brother, Albert, who resides at Eureka, Calif., and another brother, Martin, and a sister, Grete, both of Norway.

Cousins residing here are Mrs. Carrie Brown, Mrs. Gertrude Hansen, Mrs. Agnes Burge and Mrs. Louise Cates.
