Sam Blaney Dies of Heart Attack Thurs

ConcIuding rites were conducted from the Peet Mortuary Sunday afternoon for Samuel H. Blaney, wko died suddenly at his home In Manville Thursday due to a chronic heart condition.

Mr. Blaney suffered a heart attack the morning of July 23 as he was arising. He had not been feeling well for several days prior to his death.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. from the Peet Mortuary with the Rev. Richard Ward, pastor of the Manville Community Church officiating. Mrs. J. P. Watson presided at the chapel organ and accompanied Rev. and Mrs. Ward, who sang a duet. "Holy, Holy! Is What the Angels Sing." Rev. Ward sang, "Sometime We'll Understand," and Mrs. Ward sang "In the Hollow of His Hand.''

Interment was made in the Lusk cemetery with military honors performed at the graveside by Wieten-Dupes Post No. 4 of the American Legion and the Niobrara Post No. 3511 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Pallbearers were friends of the family, W.C. Glandt, Zeb Ward, Curt Baughn, Kenneth Hughes, Coye Jennewein and O.M. Rasmussen.

Samuel Harrison Blaney was born in Evansville, Ind. Sept 6, 1892 to Sarah and Samuel Blaney. His childhood was spent in Indiana and Nebraska and he came to Wyoming in 1913 at which time he and his mother took up a homestead south of Jireh.

In 1918 he served in World War I and received an honorable discharge from that service.

Mr. Blaney was married to Nellie Bell Evans of Ophir, Colo. in 1920. To them were born four children: Mae Hoyt and Robert, now both residing in Lance Creek, William of Norwalk, Calif. and Clifford of Lusk.

The family moved to Flattop and was engaged In ranching until poor health made it impossible tor Mr. Blaney to continue. Mr. Blaney and his family moved to Manville from the Flattop community.

He was a member of the Manville Community Church and held the position of senior deacon at the time of his death. He was a member of the Wieten-Dupes Post No. 4 of the American Legion, the Manville Community Club and the Civil Defense.

Mr. Blaney was preceded it death by two sisters, Olive and Elsie, and one brother, William. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Nellie Blaney; one daughter, Mrs. Mae Hoyt of Lance Creek; three sons, Robert of Lance Creek, William of Norwalk, Calif., and Clifford of Lusk; and one grand-daughter, Dixie Hoyt of Lance Creek.

A pretty home wedding took place December 25, 1920, at the home of Mrs. Sarah J. Blaney in Jireh, Wyoming.

Her youngest son, Samuel H. Blaney was married to Miss Nellie Belle Evans of Ames, Colorado.

Reverend Buttler of Manville, Wyo., performed the ceremony.

The happy young couple stood beneath a large white wedding bell draped with garlands and mistletoe.

The groom being dressed in his military uniform and the bride was attired in white.

Immediately after the ceremony a wedding dinner was served, covers being laid for fourteen, those present were Mrs. Sarah J. Blaney, Mr. and Mrs. William Blaney of Glenrock, Wyo., Mr. and Mrs. Charles Bruner and daughters, Mildred, Myrtle, and Vera, Reverend Buttler, Mrs. Eva Bander and Miss Mary Bander also of Glenrock.

The following Sunday Evening a large number of friends and relatives gathered to greet the happy young couple and to wish them a successful voyage on the sea of matrimony.

At a seasonable hour a light luncheon was served after which the guests departed for their homes.

Mr. and Mrs. Blaney have made many friends in both Ames and Jireh, the bride having the greatest part of her life in and near Telluride.

Mr. Blaney was formerly an operator at the Ames Station for the Western Colorado Power Company and now is engaged in farming and is one of the directors of the Niobrara County Potato Growers Association.

The young couple will be at home to their friends in Jireh, Wyoming after January 1st.
