Mrs. Joe Vondra, Sr. Dies in Nebr.

Mrs. Joe Vondra, Sr., who formerly lived in the Jay Em community, died at the home of a daughter, Mrs. F.E. Detimore, of Shelby, Nebr., on Feb. 14 from a heart attack.

Mr. and Mrs. Vondra moved from this locality to Casper some 30 years ago, where they have since resided. Mrs. Vondra had been called to Nebraska to attend the funeral of a sister and while there suffered the heart attack from which she died suddenly, on her 79th birthday.

Her body was taken back to Casper where the recitations of the rosary were held Friday evening, Feb. 15, at the Horstman-Gay Chapel with the funeral services being held the following morning at the chapel at 9:30 with the Very Rev. Father Thomas F. O'Reilly, pastor of the Catholic Church of St. Anthony, officiating.

Burial was in the Highland Cemetery at Casper with her six grandsons acting as casket bearers. They were Joe and Verne Vondra, Joe and Ed Detimore, Billy Pierce and Kenneth Vondra.

Mrs. Vondra was born Feb. 14, 1873, one of 13 children. On Nov. 20, 1890 she was married to Joe Vondra at Bruno, Nebr. They came to Wyoming in 1914 and homesteaded in Goshen County, 20 miles southeast of Lusk.

In 1921 the family moved to Casper and erected their home at 726 North Jackson where they were still residing.

Mrs. Vondra is survived by her husband and seven children, J.L. and J.M. and Otto Vondra, all of Lusk; Mrs. F.E. Detimore, Shelby, Nebr., Ed Vondra, Helen Pierce and Mrs. T.V. Fiddes, all of Casper. Two brother and two sisters, 24 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren also survive.
