Mrs. Con Parsons Dies Here Tuesday

Mrs. Con Parsons, 64, of Harrison, died Tuesday morning at the Niobrara Memorial Hospital following a heart attack. Funeral services are to be held Thursday at 2:00 p.m. from the Memorial Methodist Church in Harrison with Rev. Keith Bruning officiating.

Survivors include her husband and a son and daughter by a previous marriage.

According to an online cemetery database for Harrison, Blanche Kirk Porter was the daughter of Steve and Elizabeth "Betty" Kirk. Her first marriage to Charles Porter was in 1917, and her second marriage to Con Parsons was January 17, 1938. Children from her first marriage were Elizabeth Ann Porter Blackburn and Charles Reid Porter II.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Con Parsons Held

Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon for Mrs. Con Parsons who died April 16 at the Niobrara Memorial Hospital following a heart attack. Services were from the Memorial Methodist Church in Harrison with Rev. Keith Bruning officiating. Burial was made in the Harrison Cemetery.

A mixed quartet composed of Mrs. Floyd Cashatt, Mrs. Jerry Kennedy, Grant Seifert and Clarence Schnurr sang "Abide With me", "Beautiful Isle" and "Beyond the Sunset". Organists were Mrs. Floyd Hall and Mrs. M.M. Koch all of Harrison.

Blanche Parsons, 64, was born May 26, 1892 in Grayson County, Va. the daughter of Steve and Betty Kirk. In 1917 she married Charles Reid Porter and was the mother of two children, Mrs. Tom Blackburn of Dayton, Ohio, and Charles Reid Porter II, now of Mebane, N.C. Mr. Porter died in 1920. She then served as superintendent of the Presbyterian Mission School at Floyd, Va. for 18 years. She then resigned her position and married Con Parsons of Meband, N.C., moving to the Parsons ranch 20 miles southwest of Harrison where they lived until 1948 when they moved to the Parsons home one half mile south of Harrison.

Survivors include her two children; her husband; five sisters, Viginia Baker, High Point, N.C., Sue Mae Lipps, Aldie, Va., Mint Robbins, Blue Field, W. Va., Mattie Spencer, Independence, Va., and Lena Ruth Taylor Greensville, S.C.; one brother, Schley Kirk, Fox, Va.; two step sons, Bruce and Waldo Parsons of Harrison and a step daughter, Mrs. Susie Mae Atencio of Denver.
