Mrs. Mary C. Salvesen Passes Away At Home Friday Morning; Services Monday, December 11th in Chapel

Death claimed the life of Mrs. Mary Christianson Salvesen, long-time resident of this county, Friday morning, December 8th at 11:00 o'clock, in her home in this city, ending the suffering of many years. Mrs. Salvesen had been in failing health for several years. At the time of her death, which was caused by carcinoma, she had attained the age of 67 years, 11 months and four days.
The deceased was born July 27, 1833 in Denmark and came to this country when she was 2 years old. In 1909 she was united in marriage to Chriss Salvesen and they came to Wyoming homesteading near Node. Some forty years ago the family moved to this city where Mrs. Salvesen lived for the remainder of her life.
Concluding rites were conducted from the Peet Chapel at two o'clock, Monday afternoon, December 11th with Rev. Lawrence P. Juell pastor of the Congregational Christian Church officiating.
During the service Mesdames I. J. Reiste and William G. Watt sang "Will the Circle be Unbroken." They were accompanied by Mrs. Gerald Bardo. Members of the Lusk Rebekah Lodge, No. 12, of which the deceased had been a member for the past 28 years, held their rites during the service. A trio composed of Mesdames Paul Morgan, Ed Thompson, and William Jassman sang "Somewhere the Sun is Shining" and "Nearer My God to Thee." They were accompanied on the chapel organ by Mrs. J. P. Watson.
Bearing the remains to their final resting place in the Lusk cemetery were R. O. Bump, Fred Hansen, Henry Kaan, Menno Kaan, Don C. Taylor and C. E. Marvin.
Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Anna Strohecker of Powder River, Wyo., Mrs. Edna Van Sant of Boise, Ida,. Mrs. Laura Frasier and Mable Salveson, both of Lusk, Wyo.
Preceding her in death were her husband, who passed away, September 22, 1922 and one daughter Stena, who died July 18, 1949.

Mary Salvesen, 67, Dies Fri. Morning
Mrs. Mary C. Salvesen, 67, died suddenly the morning of Dec. 8 at her home in Lusk, after being in failing health.
Funeral services were conducted at the Peet Chapel with the Rev. Lawrence P. Juell, pastor of the Congregational church of Lusk, officiating. Mrs. William G. Watt and Mrs. I.J. Reiste sang, "Will the Circle Be Unbroken". Mrs. Gerald Bardo provided the organ accompaniment for the duet.
The Rebekah Lodge of which Mrs. Salveson was a member for 28 years, conducted its impressive funeral services. Mrs. Mae Urbanek, noble grand; Mrs. Edith Lorenzen, vice grand; and Mrs. Louise Niles, chaplain conducted the Rebekah's part of the services and were assisted by all members of the local lodge. Mrs. Judson P. Watson provided the organ music and accompaniments. A vocal trio consisting of Mrs. Esther Thompson, Mrs. Maxine Jassman and Mrs. Betty Morgan sang, "Beautiful Isle" and "Nearer My God to Thee".
The remains were taken to the Lusk cemetery by the pallbearers, R.0. Bump, Fred Hansen, Henry Kaan, Menno Kaan, Don C. Taylor and C. E. Marvin.
Mary Christianson was born July 27, 1883 in Denmark coming to the United States at the age of two years. In 1909 she was married to Chris Salvesen. Following their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Salvesen settled on a homestead in the Node community. Later they moved to Lusk, where Mrs. Salvesen has lived since that time.
On Sept. 22, 1922, Mr. Salvesen died, leaving five children ranging in age from two to twelve. A daughter, Stena, died July 18, 1949. Mrs. Salvesen is survived in the immediate family by four daughters, Mrs. Ann Strohecker of Powder River, Wyo., Mrs. Edna Van Sant, Boise, Idaho, Mrs. Laura Frasier and Mabel Salvesen, both of Lusk.
