Services were held April 21 for Robert D Jordan, 77, of Chadron, Neb., at Harrison High School with burial following at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Harrison, Neb. Father Loren Pohlmeier officiated.

Bob Jordan was born in Crawford, Neb on April 25, 1929. He was the first of three children - sisters Shirley (Phipps) and Rita (DeHaven) born to Allen and Mary Jordan of Harrison, Neb. He spent most of his life on the ranch north of Harrison, NE. He graduated from Sioux County High School in 1947. He married Eldeene (Preble) in 1951. Together they had six children: Dan of Harrison; Mary Jayne of Sundance, WY; Steve of Douglas, WY; Jim and Pat both of Lusk, WY and Carol of Rapid City, SD. He has seven grandchildren, Richard, Kathy, Allen, Keith, Crystal, Josiah and Levi, and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and grandchildren Neil and Tonya.

Bob was well known in his younger days in the rodeo world and later for his quarter horses. He loved raising, riding and training ranch and rope horses. He knew what he wanted in his trailer when he pulled into a rodeo and after injuries forced him to retire from the rodeo arena he set about building a horse program that fulfilled his vision. His passing on April 17, 2007 leaves an empty spot at the hitching rail. He has ridden off into the sunset to join both his parents and his wife. Finally he can ride across those big pastures in Heaven with a hip that doesn't hurt. He truly was one of the last of the old cowboys.
