Pfc. John C. Glasby was killed in action in France, July 15 relatives in this county were notified this week.
Only the bare facts of his death was given, with the information that a letter would follow.
His father and mother are both dead, but a brother, Albert Glasby, lives at Lance Creek; a sister Gladys Glasby, at Hat Creek and another sister, Alberta Glasby at Cheyenne River. Other brothers and sisters are William Glasby, Saratoga; Norman Glasby, Edgemont; and Mrs. Neva Simmons, Edgemont.

Pfc. John Glasby Remains Returned
The Methodist Church at Edgemont, S. Dak. was filled to capacity April 25 for the military funeral of Pfc. John C. Glasby who was killed in the Normandy campaign at St. Lo, France July 15, 1944. Burial was at Edgemont.
John C. Glasby was born Feb. 23,1918 in the Cheyenne River community. He obtained his early education in local schools, attended high school and one year of college at Chadron, Nebr.
He was inducted into the army Feb. 24, 1942 from Lusk, and received his training at Fort Jackson, So. Carolina; Fort Benning, Ga.; Fort Blanding, Fla.; and Nashville, Tenn.
Surviving are three brothers and three sisters: Mrs. Neva Simmons, Edgemont; Norman, Mule Creek; William, Sundance; Gladys, Sheridan; Albert, Lance Creek; Alberta, Newcastle.
