Helen L. DeGering

Services for Helen L. DeGering, 72, were held Saturday, May 20, 1995, at the Bader Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Lee Wisroth. Burial followed at the Lusk Cemetery.

Mrs. DeGering died at the Wyoming Medical Center in Casper on May 18, 1995. She was born in Lusk March 13, 1923, to Walter L. and Eva Klemke. She attended schools in Lusk and graduated from Lusk High School in 1941. She was a lifelong member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and was confirmed in August 1938.

She married Leonard L. DeGering September 16, 1968. They lived in Lusk for several years before moving to their ranch north of Lusk, where she remained until her death.

Mrs. DeGering worked at the Niobrara Electric Association for 13 years, in addition to her work as a rancher following the death of her husband. Besides church, she was active in many organizations, including the Niobrara County Cattlewomen, Group II; Chapter I of the P.E.O.; and the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was an accomplished painter and enjoyed playing bridge and gardening.

She is survived by a daughter, Jacque L. Boyd of Seattle, Wash.; two sons, David A. Boyd of Norfolk, Neb., and James W. Boyd of Casper; and four sisters, Lenora Wallace of Richmond, Va., Doris Huchfeldt of Basin, Esther Gilbreath of Yuma, Ariz., and Alma Lemons of Lusk. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard L. DeGering.

Friends may make memorials to St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Lusk to help the church create improved access for the disabled. Bader Funeral Home of Lusk is in charge of arrangements.
