Harold "Bud" Brus

Funeral services for H. L. "Bud" Brus, 75 years old, were held Aug. 29 at the Adams Funeral Home Chapel in Buffalo with Reverend John Orwig officiating. Services were held at the First Presbyterian Church Aug. 29 with Reverend Lynn Williamson officiating. Interment was in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Casper. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Bud's memory to the Bread of Life Food Pantry in care of Adams Funeral Home.

Harold Leon "Bud" Brus was born on Dec. 13, 1929 in Alliance, Neb. to Carl and Rose Brus. As a young boy he moved with his family to Lance Creek, Wyo. where he attended country schools. He graduated from Manville High School in 1948 and joined the U.S. Navy. He served two years on a destroyer in the South Pacific and received an honorable discharge in 1950. He was married on Feb. 3, 1950 in Lance Creek to Eileen Hoffman and they made their home there. Bud started with Conoco when he was in high school and continued with the company after his military service. He worked and they lived in various places in Wyoming, Montana, and Dubai in the United Arab Emirates. He retired after 38 years of service and they lived in California and Texas. The Brus' then moved to Buffalo in 1995 where Mrs. Brus passed away in Sept. 2004. Bud continued living in Buffalo until the time of his death.

He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He loved the stock market, following the Wyoming Cowboys and baking cookies for the Buffalo Christmas Parade Open House. Bud was known for his sense of humor and had the only working parking meter in Buffalo in front of his house.

He is survived by one son, Rick Brus, and his wife Kathy of Buffalo; one daughter, Janis Hall and her husband Clancy of Casper; one brother, Jack Brus of Bakersfield, Calif.; two sisters, Mary Wrench of LaJolla, Calif., and Karlyn Holbeck of Fort Morgan, Colo.; one sister-in-law, Roberta Brus of Cody, Wyo.; seven grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parent, his wife and one brother.
