Mother of Mrs. Walt Kant Dies in Powell

Mr. and Mrs. Walt Kant went to Cody, September 11 to attend funeral services for her mother, Mrs. Mary J. (Nettie) Borner, 83, who died September 9 at a nursing home in Powell following a lingering illness. Services were held at the First Presbyterian Church at 1:00 p.m., September 12 with Reverend R.N. Buswell officiating. Burial was made in the Riverside Cemetery in Cody.

Mary J. Hales was born on August 17, 1887 in Perry, Mont., to Mr. and Mrs. Dudley Hales. She was married to Tobias Borner in Basin in August 1903. The couple lived in Shell until 1919 when they moved to Cody. Mr. Borner preceded his wife in death in July 1950 as did two sons.

She was member of the Wyoming Outfitters Association, Book and Bottle Club and Cody Pioneer Association. She remained active in these until she became ill three years ago.

She is survived by six daughters, Mrs. Walt (Susan) Kant, Lance Creek; Sadie Seaberg, Rose White, Thelma Speigelberg and Lura Gales all of Cody; and Juanite Gilley of Danville, Ind., and one sister, Evalina Chatman, of Basin; 16 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
