Death Claims Loyde Leslie Younkin, Long Time Resident of County; Rites Monday
Death claimed the life of Loyde Leslie Younkin, long-time resident of the Hat Creek community, at 11:00 p.m., Thursday evening, at the Memorial Hospital. Mr. Younkin, who had been ill with a heart condition for many years, had recently been taken to the hospital.
Concluding rites were conducted from the parlors of the Peet Funeral Chapel at two o'clock Monday afternoon, the 19th of March with Rev. Keith Bruning, pastor of the Methodist Church of Harrison, Neb., officiating.
During the services a trio composed of Mrs. Edna DeCastro, Mrs. Maude Bonner and Al Davenport, sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "In The Garden." They were accompanied on the chapel organ by Mrs. Judson P. Watson.
Bearing the remains to their final resting place in the Lusk Cemetery were Bob Scott, Ed Hesco, Joe Klemke, Ed Cook, Graydon Hoblit and Ed Boner. Honorary pallbearers were Alex Gunn, Albert DeGering, Wayne Dainton, Gaylord Anderson, George Story, Dudley Fields, Henry McGinnis and John Hoffman.
Loyde Leslie Younkin was born in Creston, Iowa, October 16, 1891, son of Charles E. and Nellie May Younkin. He passed away March 15 at the age of 64 years and 5 months, after a prolonged illness.
When a small boy he came to Western Nebraska with his parents, who settled near Kimball. Here he attended public school and graduated from Kimball High School. Later they moved to Alliance, where he was employed as foreman on the J. R. Phelan ranch. While here he met and married Blanche Estelle Himes. To this union seven children were born - Muriel E. Ortez, Dayton, Ohio; Ruth E. Bass, Glendo, Wyo.; Vernon L. Younkin, Lancaster, Calif.; Roy O. Younkin, Linch, Wyo.; Doris L. Leeling, Manville, Wyo.; Nellie M. Jones, Marsland, Neb.; and Norma Bruegger, Van Tassel, Wyo.
In 1916 the family moved to Wyoming where they filed on a homestead in the Hat Creek community. Here he was in the ranching business until his death. Along with ranching he drove the local school bus route for 17 years.
Mr. Younkin was a member of the Methodist Church, Farm Bureau and the American Cattleman Association.
He is survived by his wife, seven children, 21 grandchildren, one brother, Ralph Younkin, of Denver, Colo.; three sisters, Bessie Jones of Burbank, Calif.; Eunice LeMasters of San Fernando, Cal., and Florence Carland, Phoenix, Oregon.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Glenn, and his parents.

Loyde Younkin of Hat Creek Dies
Loyde Younkin, 64, resident of the Hat Creek community since 1916, died March 15 at 11 p,.m. at the Memorial Hospital after a prolonged illness.
Funeral services were held Monday from the Peet Chapel with the Rev. Keith E. Bruning, Methodist pastor of Harrison, officiating. Music was provided by Al Davenpost, Mrs. A. F. DeCastro, and Mrs. Maude Bonner, singing "The Old Rugged Cross" and "In the Garden". Mrs. J. P. Watson was organist.
Interment was in the Lusk Cemetery. Active pallbearers were Robert Scott, Ed Hesco, Jo Klemke, Ed Boner, Honorary pallbearers were Alex Gunn, Albert DeBering, Wayne Dainton, Dudley Fields, Henry McGinnis, George Story, John Hoffman and Gaylord Anderson.
