Eileen Bruch Young

Rosary services were held for Eileen Bruch Young Aug. 6 at 7:30 p.m. at Peet Mortuary Chapel. Mass of the Resurrection was held at St. Leo's Catholic Church in Lusk Tuesday, Aug. 7 at 10 a.m. Officiating were Rev. Tony Jablonowski and Rev. William Young. Pallbearers were Kenneth Freeman, Paul Pfister, Henry Wasserburger, Joe Pfister, Jack McMaster and Fred Bruegger.

The organist was Rose Kremers and vocalists were Jeroldine Waldock and Norma Wilson.

Eileen Bernadine Young was born May 25, 1936. She died Aug. 3, 1984 in Lusk after a thirty-year struggle with depression.

The eldest child and only daughter of Carl and Mary Bruch, Eileen spent her early years on the Bruch ranch east of Lusk. She went to school at Node from first grade through the second year of high school. Eileen then went to St. Martin's Academy in Sturgis, S. Dak. from which she graduated. While at the Academy she took piano and voice lessons.

Eileen attended Loretto Heights College in Denver where she majored in English. After her graduation she taught school in Santa Fe, N. Mex. She then joined a group of Loretto students attending John Carroll University in Cleveland, Ohio where she earned her Masters Degree in English. She taught at John Carroll where she met her future husband, John Young.

After her marriage in Lusk in 1966, two children were born, John Jr., now 17, and Deirdre (Molly), now 15. The Young family spent several years in Charlottesville, Va. and London, England while John finished his doctoral work.

From 1970 to 1980 they resided in Davidson, N.C. where John taught philosophy. During this period, Eileen earned a nursing degree at the University of North Carolina in Charlotte. She was elected to Sigma Theta Tau, the national Nursing Honorary Society and was certified as a registered nurse.

In 1980 the family moved to Greensboro, N. C. where John is Director of Continuing Education. Eileen served as a nurse during this period in hospitals, schools and as a private duty nurse.

She retained a life-long interest in music. She sang a leading roll in a college production of "Carousel" and sang with the Charlotte Oratorio Singers and her church choir.

Her love of her Wyoming homeland was great. She and her family returned for visits whenever possible. She is survived by her husband, John Sr.; one son, John Jr.; a daughter, Deirdre, all of Greensboro, N.C.; her parents, Carl and Mary Bruch, and three brothers, Charles, John and Joe, all of Lusk. May she rest in peace.
