Fred Wilson, 48, Takes His Own Life
Fred L. Wilson, 48, of Lance Creek took his own life early Friday morning at his home in Lance Creek. Niobrara officials say he used a hunting rifle. No inquest was held.
Funeral services were held in Lusk Monday afternoon from the Peet Mortuary with the Rev. Robert Boutwell of the Congregational Church officiating. Burial was in the Lusk Cemetery. The Lusk American Legion conducted a military service at the grave.
Casket bearers were Kenneth Hawkins, Dale Henton, Linden Nelson, Jim Groves, Warren Walter and Sven Johnson.
Mr. Wilson was a son of Ira L. and Iona Remster Wilson, born November 14, 1920 at Manville. He received his primary education at Wellington, Colo. the family moved to Lance Creek and he graduated from the Manville High School. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the Army Air Force from 1942-46, most of this time was overseas. He was employed by the Marathon (Ohio) Oil Company for 23 years. He was a charter member of the Wm. D. McKibben VFW Post, member of Cheyenne B.P.O. Elks, and American Legion.
His parents and a brother Harley died previously.
Survivors include four sisters, Mrs. Bertha Merna, Mrs. Wilma Merna, Mrs. Darrell Grace, all of Cheyenne and Mrs. Beryl Dickinson of Lance Creek; one brother, David, of Morton, Wyo. several nieces and nephews.
Relatives here for the services were Mr. and Mrs. David Wilson, Morton, Wyo.; Mr. and Mrs. Darrell Grace, Mrs. Bertha Merna and Mrs. Wilma Merna, Cheyenne, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Dickinson, Powell; Robert Dillon and Lyle Harding of Wilsonville, Nebr.
