Delbert Walker, Well-Known Citizen of Lusk, Passes Away Friday of Pneumonia

Lusk residents were grieved last Friday evening, when word was passed round that Delbert Walker, local blacksmith and highly respected citizen, had succumbed to an attack of pneumonia, which followed a siege of influenza.

It is a little more than two years ago that he purchased the blacksmith shop from A. Hoben, and came with his family to Lusk from the north country, where he resided for a number of years.

Mr. Walker had partially recovered from an attack of influenza and got up and went back to the shop, where he worked for part of a day, when he suffered a relapse and pneumonia developed. He was taken to the hospital, but very little hope for his recovery was entertained, and he passed away a few days later.

Funeral services were held from the Congregational Church on Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, with Rev. P. H. Evans, pastor of the Baptist Church officiating.

Music was rendered by a male quartet composed of Ford B. Kuns, J. M. Hungate, George Jenkins and O. P. Harnagel.

The funeral arrangements were in charge of the Peet Mortuary and burial was made in the Lusk Cemetery. The pallbearers were Conrad Frosheiser, Chet Tibbetts, James Hoblit, Ray Walters, Verne Peters and Roy Maguire.

DELBERT WALKER
Delbert Walker was born at Kimball, South Dakota, October 14, 1898. There he lived for the first twelve years of his life, when he moved with his parents to Marsland, Neb., and lived on a ranch. In 1919 Delbert came to Wyoming and filed on a homestead some forty miles north of Lusk. May 27, 1924, he was united in marriage to Miss Ruth Harris. To this union was born one son, Loren.

A little more than two years ago he moved his family into Lusk and engaged in the blacksmith business. While yet a young man he professed faith in Jesus Christ and united with the M. E. Church. He was an honored citizen, a devoted husband, a beloved son and brother, a kind and loving father and valued friend.

Delbert Walker died in the Lusk Hospital at 6:00 p.m., Friday, January 29, 1937. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife, son, mother, Mrs. Mary Walker of Hemingford, Neb.; five brothers, Thomas and Robert of Bayard, Neb.; William of Morrill, Neb.; Lewis of Martin, So. Dak.; Lester of Meredosiaa, Ill.; two sisters, Mrs. Bertha Smith of Martinez, Calif., and Mrs. Mary Whalen of Tyndall, South Dakota, and a host of friends.

Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from henceforth. Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labors, and their works do follow them.
