Charles Vaughan, 71, died Sunday

The funeral for Charles Vaughan, who died Sunday in Cheyenne, was Wednesday afternoon at the Peet Mortuary in Lusk. Vaughan was 71.

He was born in Dow City, Iowa, July 8, 1906 to Pat and Adda Vaughan. He moved to Wyoming with his family in March 1919. He grew up on a small ranch near Lance Creek.

After learning the barber trade he worked for 50 years as a barber in Wyoming and Nebraska. He returned to Lusk in 1945 and operated a barbershop here until his retirement in 1976.

Charles was a charter member of the Elks Lodge in Lusk and a member of the American Legion Club.

He is survived by three brothers, Forrest of Chehalis, Wash., Joe of Lusk, and Jim of Cleveland, Ohio. Two sisters, Wilma Wilson, Wasilla, Alaska, and Patty Welch, of Karachi Pakistan also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

The Rev. Frank Bozart officiated and music was provided by Minerva Watson, organist, and Mark Lohr who sang "How Great Thou Art" and "The Old Rugged Cross."

Pallbearers were Sven Johnson, Ted Davis, Robert Sides, Fred Sullivan, John Jassman and Terry Griffith.

Honorary pallbearers were Fred Hansen, C. E. Marvin, Al Lagerberg, John Overman, Harvey Overman, Martin Glandt, Art Joss, Cy Stafford, Everette Brooks, Judson Watson, Fred Sheaman, Clarence Mason, James Groves, J. A. McClarey, Ab DeCastro, Floyd McCleerey and T. J. Shipley.

Interment was at the Lusk Cemetery. Weiten-Dupes Post No. 4 and the Elks Lodge participated.
