Lawrence Sylvester Tucker
Lawrence Tucker Dies Last Wed.
Lawrence S. Tucker, 72, a resident of this area for 42 years, died of a heart attack at his home at 10:30 p.m. last Wednesday. He had been in ill health for several years.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Monday at the Peet Chapel with the Rev. Frank Bozart in charge. Mrs. Emerson Bonner and Mrs. Lyle Eddy sang "In the Garden" and "Beyond the Sunset" with Mrs. Lawrence Ferris as organist. Active bearers were: Roger Percival, Harry Fernau Sr., C. E. Marvin, Pat Miller, Lee Penn and James Barrett. Honorary bearers were Charlie Hitshew, Roy Elder, Don C. Taylor, Roscoe Ross and Albert Penn. Burial was in the Lusk Cemetery.
Mr. Tucker, the son of Allie and George Tucker, was born March 21, 1890 in Seneca, Mo. He married Ruby Altman in Kansas September 18, 1917 and they were the parents of one son, Lonnie Earl. Both Mrs. Tucker and the son died. After his discharge following World War I Mr. Tucker came to Wyoming and located on a homestead north of Lusk in 1920. He was engaged in farming and carpenter work until ill health forced him to retire.
He married Miss Ethel Stevens in Lusk September 18, 1924 and they were parents of eight children. Survivors include his wife, children, Mrs. Myrtle Lambert, Lusk; Merle and Bert of Portland, Ore.; Mrs. Leo Schmidt, Ekalaka, Mont.; Mrs. Robert Rokne, Lyman, Wyo.; Wayne, Gas Hills, Wyo.; Mrs. Kenneth Perlenfein, Casper; and Lawrence of the U.S. Navy; 15 grandchildren, two sisters and two brothers.
