Funeral services for Daryle Jess Thompson, age 81, were held Friday, Oct. 12, 1990 at 2 p.m. at the Converse Funeral Chapel in Douglas, Wyo., with Fr. Anthony Bullman of the Christ Episcopal Church of Douglas officiating. Interment was in the Douglas Park Cemetery.
Thompson, a former Lusk and Douglas, resident, died Monday, Oct. 8, 1990, at the Lincoln General Hospital in Lincoln, Neb.
He was born Aug. 27, 1909, in Fonda, Iowa, the son of Andrew L. and Valentina (Peterson) Thompson. He came to Wyoming in 1912 with his family and they homesteaded near Shawnee. He lived in Shawnee, Fort Fetterman, Douglas and Lusk areas. On July 17, 1933, he and Virginia I. Miller were married in South Dakota. He operated a gas station in Douglas before moving to Lusk.
He lived in Lusk from 1939 to 1956 then transferred to Ponca City, Okla. After six months he moved to Lake Charles, La., where he lived from 1957 to 1967. He moved to Lincoln where he retired from the Continental Oil Company in 1973 after 30 years. He was a member of IOOF, going through the chairs and also was an avid golfer.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia, of Lincoln; and a daughter Nancy Thompson of Sacramento, Calif.
He was preceded in death by both parents, one brother, Dale George Thompson on May 21, 1929, and an infant brother.
The Converse Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
