Albert Edward Thomas

Funeral service for Albert Edward Thomas, a former Lusk Resident, was held at the Ft. Laramie Community Presbyterian Church Monday, July 27 with interment in the Lusk Cemetery.

Albert Edward Thomas, son of Charles Milton and Mary Turner Thomas died at the Denver Veterans Hospital on July 23. He was born at Kirtley on June 25, 1899, and attended school at Lusk. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy, June 23, 1918, at Omaha, Nebr., for the duration of W. W. I and was honorably discharged.

He was a resident of the Lusk area where he met and married Thelma Lanetta Middleton on August 18, 1924. He worked and ranched in the area until 1941. He owned and operated a ranch west and north of Ft. Laramie until 1955. He retired at the age of 72 in Ft. Laramie.

He is survived by his wife Thelma of Ft. Laramie and his children, Mrs. Rosalie Hunt of Cheyenne, Mrs. Joan Jones of Torrington, Floyd E. Thomas of Kenai, Alaska; Mrs. Linda Hageman of Douglas and a foster son, Samuel H. Field of Cheyenne; and a half-brother William L. Wills of Bonderant. He is survived by 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Thelma Alberta, one sister and one brother.

He was a member of the Veterans of W.W.I of the U.S.A. Inc.
