Harry Tharp Dies In Cheyenne Mon.
Harry L. Tharp of Denver, died at Evantide Manor in Cheyenne on Monday. Funeral services will be conducted by the Cheyenne Shrine this Thursday morning at Schrader Funeral Home.
Mr. and Mrs. Tharp are well known in Lusk where they have often visited. "Cousin Harry" as he was known here, was an avid golf enthusiast. For about 15 years he participated in the Niobrara County Club's annual tournaments.
Mr. Tharp was born in Florence, Colo., the son of Frank and Nora Tharp. Most of his youth was spent in Pueblo where the family moved when he was quite young. He was a veteran of World War I, a Mason and a member of the Shrine in Denver.
On January 2, 1922, he and Margaret Uebelhoer were married. They resided in Denver and for many years he was district manager for King Merritt & Co. of New York. After retiring from Merritt he sold mutual funds for Channing Services, Inc.
Early in December of last year Mr. Tharp incurred a fractured hip and leg in a fall, and he never fully recovered. Several months later in order to be near their daughter, Mrs. John Broderick, and family, the Tharps moved to Cheyenne. First he was a patient at the Veteran's Hospital and later moved to Eventide Manor. Mrs. Tharp is making her home with the Brodericks at this time.
Mr. Tharp is survived by his widow Margaret, his daughter, Phyllis Lee Broderick, and two grandsons, Brandon and Trevor Broderick. He was the uncle of Mrs. Walter C. Fernau of Lusk and Richard F. Hahn of Hardin.
