Frances Martha Sturman

The Rev. Frank Blish officiated at the funeral services for lifelong resident Francis Sturman held at Peet Mortuary Chapel today (Wednesday) Dec. 30. Mrs. Sturman died at Niobrara Memorial Hospital last Sunday, Dec. 27, after fighting a battle with cancer for seven years. Special services was conducted by the Lusk B.P.O. Does.

Francis Martha Sturman was born to Adolph and Lora Hinrichsen at Scribner, Neb., March 12, 1915. She moved with her parents to Lance Creek as an infant and attended Bills Creek school near Lance Creek and the Manville school. On May 10, 1946, she and John C. Sturman were married at Casper. They made their home on the Sturman ranch four miles east of Lusk until 1974 when they moved to Lusk.

Frances was a charter member and past president of the Lusk B.P.O. Does, Drove 64. She was baptized in the Lutheran faith in infancy, but attended the first Congregational Church of Lusk.

"Francis fought a courageous battle against her illness and her faith, courage and determination was an inspiration to her friends and family," said a close acquaintance.

Survivors include her husband John of Lusk, son Douglas Turner of Gillette, daughter Vee Allyn of Sheridan, sisters Annabelle Brunke of Boulder,Colo., and Lorita Miller of Fremont, Nebr., eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and twin brothers Gail and Glen Hinrichsen.

Organist for the funeral service was Minerva Watson. "How Great Thou Art" and "The Old Rugged Cross" were sung by Joy Kaltenheuser. Casket bearers were Jimmy Shane, Jerry Sturman, James Sturman and Mark Sturman. Interment was in Lusk Cemetery.

Memorials may be sent to the cancer fund.
