Esther Stubson dies; service held Saturday

Funeral service for Esther Stubson, 71, long-time Lance Creek and Lusk resident, who died Dec. 8 at the Natrona County Memorial Hospital, was held Saturday at Peet Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Beauford Anderson officiating.

Mrs. Ruth Hahn, organist, accompanied Debbie Akers, Kathy Doctor and Susan Hahn as they sang "Beautiful Savior" and "O Lord, How Shall I Meet Thee."

Casket bearers were Richard Lenz, Archie Huey, Richard Kant, David Armstrong, Jack Hammond, and Herb Mangis. Burial was in the Lusk Cemetery. Memorials are to Niobrara County Nursing Home.

Mrs. Esther Maria (Olson) Stubson was born April 14, 1905 at Rockford, Ill., the fourth of seven children born to Louis and Hilma Olson.

The Olson family moved to Perkins County, S.D. in 1909 where they lived until the spring of 1912 at which time the family moved to Wadena, Minn. In the spring of 1916 the family returned to Perkins County where they remained and where Esther completed her education.

In 1929 Esther moved to Midwest where she stayed with family relatives. She met and married Louis C. Stubson May 8, 1930. He worked in the oil fields and the two made their home at Big Muddy for the next four years. From Big Muddy, the family moved to Lance Creek where they lived until he retired in 1969 at which time they moved to Lusk.

Esther Stubson was baptized into the body of Christ September 18, 1905, and accepted the Lutheran faith as her own. During her last years she was active in her church and a member of the Lutheran Women's Missionary League.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Mrs. Joyce English.

She is survived by her widower Louis; one son Donald; two daughters, Mrs. Darlene Johnson and Mrs. Connie Sturman, all of Casper; two brothers, Hilbert Olson, Hettinger, N.D. and Frank Olson, Fair Oaks, Calif.; four sisters, Mrs. May John of Garden City, Kan., Mrs. Edith Jesfjeld Hettinger. N.D., Mrs. Helen Dahl, Spearfish, S. D., and Mrs. Florence Jesfjeld, El Sabrante, Calif.; 12 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
