Dean Leroy Stewart

Funeral services for Dean L. Stewart, 82, were July 8, 1997, at the Bader Funeral Home in Lusk with the Rev. Don Laue officiating. Memorials are to the family.

He died July 2 at his home near Lusk. He was born May 15, 1915, near Crawfordsville, Iowa to Bruce and Ivy (Hagen) Stewart.

He married Norma Jean Horton Aug. 22, 1967, in Mexico.

He was an over-the-road truck driver for 47 years, finally having to give it up because of his eyesight. He was a leased driver as well as an owner/operator.

When he left the road in 1980, he did different things and for the past eight years, enjoyed his little horses and gardening.

Survivors include his wife of Lusk; children Max Stewart, Caroline Stewart of Des Moines, Iowa, Gerald (Jerry) W. Stewart and wife Fran of Altoona, Iowa, Catherine Lindsey of Des Moines, Marcia Ann Ezerin and husband John of Villa Park, Ill., and Ronald Dean Stewart and his wife Judy of Sanborn, Iowa; step-children Lois I Rhoades and husband Duane (Dusty) of Loves Park, Ill., Kathleen M. Houcin and husband, David of Prescott, Ariz., Denise Ramson and husband Dan of Haywarden, Iowa, Henry I. Chandler of Los Angeles, Calif., and Jeffrey V. Chandler of Philadelphia; four sisters-in-law; two brothers-in-law, 16 grandchildren; and a first great-grandchild expected later this month.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his second wife.

Bader Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
