Halleck Sommers
Funeral services for Halleck Sommers, 88, grandfather of Chuck Sommers, Ronnie Lund and Roger Lund, were held Jan. 3, 1991, at 10 a.m. at the Platte County Funeral Chapel in Wheatland with Rev. Susan Phifer officiating. Burial was in the Hartville Cemetery.
Sommers died Dec. 29, 1990, at the Valley View Health Care Center in Saratoga. He was born July 29, 1902, in Albany County. On Feb. 20, 1932, he married Wilma "Tick" Wright. He ranched until 1960 when be bought the Venice Bar in Hartville. He retired and moved to Laramie in 1975 and later the couple moved to Saratoga in 1983.
Survivors include his wife of Saratoga; one daughter, Thelma Bromley of Encampment; one son, George of Prineville, Ore.; a sister, Madge Perry of Cheyenne; two brothers, Don of Wheatland and Phifer of Sequin, Wash.; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Vic, in 1985, five sisters and three brothers.
