Earl Allen Slagle

Slagle Services Held Thursday

Funeral services were held last Thursday in Lusk at 2:00 p.m. for Earl Slagle, 68, who died October 28 of a heart attack. Burial was in the Lusk Cemetery.

The Peet Mortuary was in charge of the services. The Rev. Delbert Dick of Wheatland officiated.

Mrs. J. P. Watson was organist and accompanied Mrs. Hobart Cockerham and Mrs. Ramie Fosher as they sang "Lilly of the Valley" and "It's No Secret What God Can Do."

Casket bearers were Oscar Middleton, Bing Barr, Grant Ward, Julius Peterson, A. D. Kruse and Luther Penfield Sr.

Earl Allen Slagle was born April 7, 1900 in Fall City, Nebr., a son of Luther and Ellen Slagle. The family moved to Hubbell, Nebr. in 1901 where he attended school and grew to manhood.

He came to Wyoming in 1921 and homesteaded 30 miles north of Lance Creek. He added more land, living on this ranch until 1960 when he and Mrs. Slagle purchased another ranch south of Lusk in the Rawhide area.

June 10, 1930, he married Harriet Baker and they were the parents of six children.

Mr. Slagle was very active in Sunday school and church work for many years. He seemed to love everyone seeing only the good in them. His ranch and the wide open country were his joy.

One son died previously. Survivors include his widow Harriet of the family home, two daughters, Mrs. Nellie Marchant, Newcastle and Mrs. Betty Peterson, Lusk; three sons, Earl, Jr. Lance Creek, Johnny, Seattle, Wash. and Luther, Fort Ludlow, Wash.; three brothers, Earnest, Hebron, Nebr., George and John, Grant, Nebr.; four sisters, Rosa Walker, Cozad, Nebr., Alta Simmonic, Caruthers, Calif., Dorothy Benjamin, Wallace, Nebr. and Bessie Frankie, Grant, Nebr. and 14 grandchildren.
