Floyd F. Simon

Floyd Francis Simon was born May 30, 1897 at Smithland, Iowa, the son of Allyson John and Alice McCleery Simon. They moved to Royal, Nebr. when he was a small child and to Wyoming to homestead nine miles south of Lusk. He attended the Royal Valley School.

Following the death of his father in 1912, he continued to make his home with his mother until his marriage to Gay Doman in 1920. To this union two children were born, LaVerne and Russell. His wife Gay died in 1965.

In 1968, he married Ruby Nelson. Floyd farmed and ranched south of Lusk most of his life. In 1975 they sold their ranch and moved to Torrington because of his declining health. Mr. Simon died at the Community Hospital in Torrington Nov. 23, 1983.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Gay, one brother and one sister.

Survivors include his wife, Ruby, of Torrington, one daughter LaVerne Fancher of Seattle, Wash.; one son, Russell of Fredrick, Colo.; six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, three step children and nine step grandchildren.

Services were held at Peet Mortuary Chapel in Lusk Nov. 28 with Dale Miller of Torrington officiating.

Music was provided by Minerva Watson, organist, and Donna and Diane Mahnke, vocalists, who sang, "Jehovah Is My Shepherd" and "Keep Your Eyes On The Prize."

Pallbearers were Martin Glandt, William T. Bredthauer, Art Mahnke, Otto Vondra, Dick Glandt and John Brumm.

Interment was at Lusk Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Cancer Fund or Heart Fund.

Arrangements were by the Peet Mortuary.
