Funeral for Clarence Sides Held Thursday

Funeral services for Clarence M. Sides, 66, who died March 18, of a heart attack at his ranch five miles north of Node, were held last Thursday afternoon at 2:00. Peet Mortuary of Lusk was in charge of the arrangements.

The Rev. Harold Brink of the Open Bible Church officiated at the services. The Elks Lodge No. 1797 of Lusk held graveside services.

Mr. J. P. Watson, organist, accompanied Lee Johnsonbaugh, Harry Lyon, Mrs. A. F. DeCastro and Mrs. Dean Glandt as they sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Beyond The Sunset."

Casket bearers were John Sturman, Eddy Plumb, Larry Lund, Bill Bredthauer, Ted King and Jack Dougherty. Burial was in the Lusk cemetery.

Clarence Montgomery Sides was born July 19, 1901 in the Kirtley community to Stewart and Ruby Sides. He attended school at Kirtley and Sunny Side. He and Verda Walter were married May 16, 1923 at Douglas. They were the parents of three children, Ralph Gordon of Node, Douglas Clarence of Lusk, and Mrs. Beverly Frances Rasmussen of Sioux City, Iowa. All three are surviving.

Also surviving are his four grandchildren, Vicky, Monte, Ken and Sheila Sides; his mother, Mrs. Ruby Sides of Cannon Air Force Base, N. Mex.; four brothers, Ray, Smithwick, S. Dak., Scott, Stewart and Harry of Lusk; four sisters, Mrs. Hazel McCullough of Lusk, Mrs. Mable Hardman of Craig, Colo., Mrs. Esther Groves, Lance Creek and Mrs. Ida Mae Gay, Cannon Air Force Base, N. Mex.

His wife, Verda, father, Stewart and two brothers, Earl and Ralph died previously.

His mother Mrs. Ruby Sides and sister Mrs. Robert Gay were unable to attend the funeral because of illness.

Dak.; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hardman, Craig Colo.; Roy, Vernon and Chester Walter, Marvin Buckner and Jack Dougherty, all of Grand Ridge, Ill.; Mrs. Carrie Hitchcock, Denver, Colo.; Joe McCullough, Orlando, Fla.; Roy Glandt and niece of Chadron, Nebr.; Mr. and Mrs. Earl Sides, Gillette, Wyo.; Mr. and Mrs. Bucky Mangis, Newcastle, Wyo.; Mr. and Mrs. George Story, Mr. and Mrs. Rex Story, all of Fort Collins, Colo.; Mr. and Mrs. Richard Updike, Mr. and Mrs. Eddy Lee Jones all of Osage, Wyo.; Mrs. Bill Jenkins, Upton, Wyo.; Mr. and Mrs. Charles Garhart, Shawnee, Wyo. Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Heckert and Miss Marsha Sides all of Douglas.
