Scott Sides Life-long Resident Dies
Scott Sides, 64, a life-long resident of Niobrara County died October 11 at St. Luke's Hospital in Denver.
Funeral service was held Monday at 2:00 p.m. at the Peet Chapel with the Rev. Fred Bolinger conducting the service. Mrs. Edna DeCastro was the organist.
Honorary pallbearers were James McAllister, Roscoe Ross, Joe O'Brien, Julius Peterson, A. D. Kruse, Rex Grove and Roy Rankin.
Casket bearers were Jess York, Roy Fields, Phil Joss, Gordon Gropp, Wayne Sides and Luther Penfield.
Scott Sides was born at Sunnyside near Kirtley, January 15, 1910, the son of Stewart G. and Ruby Isabella Grant Sides. He attended the first six grades of school at Sunnyside.
For many years he ranched north of Lance Creek until he sold the ranch in 1965. He ran the Trail Motel for two years, moved to Florida for two years and then returned to Lusk working on various ranches in the area.
He married Juanette L. Brown Jan. 22, 1956 at Hot Springs, S.D.
Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Marie Ward, Bonnie Heth, Carrie Jean Prell, and Norma Dean Johnson; three step-children Wanda Gropp, Linda Fields and Gary Letchworth; 17 grandchildren; and 1 step-grandchild; four sisters, Mable Hardman, Hazel McCullough, Esther Groves, and Ida Mae Gay and two brothers, Stewart and Ray.
His parents, four brothers, two daughters and one grandchild died previously.
