Ralph Sides Dies following Attack of Lepto Meningitis

The community was shocked to learn of the death of Ralph William Sides, age 21, who died Saturday noon after an illness of but a few days.

The deceased was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Stewart Sides who recently have been living at Lance Creek. He was taken sick Thursday and was brought to town that evening, and taken to the H. P. Fancher home where he passed away shortly after noon, Saturday, September 13, 1924, of lepto meningitis.

Ralph had spent the greater part of his life in this vicinity and the past few years was always a prominent figure among the riders of the rodeos and fairs in this part of the country.

He was hurt a few weeks a go while riding a bucking horse at the Harrison fair but seemed to have recovered from that injury.

Ralph William Sides was born at Kirtley, July 25, 1903, being at the time of his death 21 years, 1 month and 19 days of age. He was very generally liked and had a host of friends who mourn with his family in their loss.

He is survived by his parents, three sisters and two brothers, all living in this part of the country.

Funeral services were held from the Baptist Church Sunday afternoon at four o'clock, Rev. G. W. Hooper officiating. His popularity was very manifest by the crowd that attended his funeral services and by the floral offerings.

The remains were laid to rest in the Lusk cemetery.

The Lusk Herald-Standard wishes to join with other friends in extending sympathy to the bereaved ones.
