Last Rites Conducted for Leonard D. Seegrist, Saturday; Was Retired City Police Officer; Burial Lusk Cemetery
Relatives and friends gathered to pay their last respects to the late Leonard D. Seegrist, at two-thirty o'clock, Saturday afternoon, October 16th, when last respects were conducted by Rev. Jacob Nein, pastor of the Congregational church of Lusk, in the chapel of the Peet Funeral home.
Mesdames Carl Peterson and Otha Holcomb presented two vocal selections, "In the Garden," and "The Old Rugged Cross," during the services. Mrs. Ab DeCastro presided at the organ.
Interment was made in the Lusk cemetery with the deceased's four sons, Elwin, Earl, Amiel, and Kenneth Seegrist, and two grandsons, Roger Seegrist of Van Tassell, Wyo., and Larry Seegrist of Hot Springs, South Dakota serving as casketbearers.
Leonard D. Seegrist was born August 3rd, 1882 at Firth, Nebraska, to Isaac and Mary Seegrist, being one of eleven children and passed away at the family home October 13th, 1954, in Lusk, Wyoming following a heart attack. At the time of his death he was 72 years, two months and ten days of age.
When a small child, four years of age, he moved with his parents to Dawes County, Nebr., where he spent his childhood days. In 1911, he was united in marriage to Emma Sweitzer of Berlin, Pa., their wedding taking place in Crawford, Nebr. They became the parents of four sons, Amiel of Pocatello, Idaho, Elwin, Hot Springs, So. Dak., Earl of Van Tassell, Wyo., and Kenneth of Los Angeles, Calif.
In 1919, they moved to Goshen County, Wyoming where Mr. Seegrist engaged in farming and blacksmithing until 1939 when they disposed of their ranching interests and moved to Lusk to make their home. He then became employed by the highway department, for a number of years. He served as night police officer until 1951, and since his retirement from the police force had on numerous occasion served as relief officer.
He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Emma, his four sons and fifteen grandchildren; three brothers, Edgar Seegrist of Crawford, Nebr., Ebner Seegrist of Alliance, Nebr., Alfred Seegrist of Bayard, Nebr., one sister, Mrs. Ed Lewis of Van Tassell, Wyo. Preceding him in death were his parents, four brothers and two sisters.
Mr. Seegrist will be remembered by his family as a kind and loving husband and father. He will be missed by a large circle of admiring friends.

Leonard Seegrist Dies in Lusk Oct. 13 of Heart Ailment
Leonard Seegrist died at his home in Lusk at 11:30 p.m. October 13 of a heart ailment. Funeral services were held Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Peet Chapel with Rev. Jacob Nein officiating.
Mrs. Carl Peterson and Mrs. Otha Holcomb sang "In The Garden" and "The Old Rugged Cross." With Mrs. Abdon DeCastro at the organ.
The casket bearers were his sons and grandson: Elwin, Earl R., Amiel L., Kenneth I., Larry and Roger E. Burial was in the Lusk Cemetery with the Peet Mortuary in charge.
Leonard Seegrist, son of Isaac and Mary Seegrist was born August 3, 1882 at Firth, Neb. and died at his home October 13, 1954. At the age of four he moved with his parents to Dawes County, Neb., where he spent his childhood days.
In 1911 he married Miss Emma Sweitzer of Berlin, Penn. They had four sons: Amiel, Pocatello, Ida.; Elwin, Hot Springs, S.D., Earl, VanTassell and Kenneth, Los Angeles.
They moved to Goshen County in 1919. Here he engaged in farming and blacksmithing until 1939 when they moved to Lusk. He worked for the Wyoming Highway Department and the Lusk Police Department until 1951.
He is survived by his wife and sons and fifteen grandchildren. Also surviving are three brothers: Edgar of Crawford, Ebner of Alliance, Alfred of Bayard, Neb. and a sister, Mrs. Ed Lewis of Van Tassell.
