Harold Bacheller Funeral Held in Lusk Saturday
Funeral services were held for Harold I. Bacheller, 71, former Lusk resident, Saturday at 2:00 p.m. from the Peet Chapel in Lusk with the Rev. Theodore Foster of St. George's Episcopal Church officiating.
Masonic services were held.
Mr. A. F. DeCastro provided organ background music during the service.
Pallbearers were William (Scotty) Jack, Don C. Taylor, C. V. Lee, Fred Sheaman, William Miller, Glen Willson.
Mr. Bacheller lived in Lusk during the oil boom days following World War I.
At the time of his death he was a Casper attorney. He died last Wednesday in the Veterans Hospital at Cheyenne.
Born at Potsdam, N. Y., July 14, 1892 Bacheller was reared and schooled there. He took his B.A. at the University of Montana and won his L.L.B. there in 1916. After graduating, he practiced law in Miles City, Mont. In 1918 he enlisted in the U. S. Marines.
After being discharged from the service, he settled in Lusk, where he met and married Stella Hitshew in March 1923. They moved to Casper in the late 1920's.
FIRST LEGION COMMANDER
In Lusk Bacheller was first commander of the American Legion post, president of the Chamber of Commerce, president of the Lions Club and head of the Masonic Lodge.
He was a member of the Episcopalian Church.
Mr. Bacheller was active in civic affairs in Casper and for many years was in the county attorney's office. He was a past president of the Natrona County Bar Association. He also served as probation officer here.
During the administration of Gov. Nels Smith he was deputy attorney general under Ewing T. Kerr, now a U.S. Circuit judge.
Surviving besides his widow are a son, Harold I. Bacheller Jr., Denver; a daughter, Mrs. Jean Mitchell, Hayward, Calif.; five grandchildren; a brother Dr. Dale Bacheller, Santa Monica, Calif.; three sisters, Mrs. Earl Flack, Potsdam, N.Y., Mrs. Paul Gifford and Mrs. Charles Flesher, both of Los Angeles, Calif..
