John E. Schuricht
Former resident Schuricht dies
A former homesteader on Little Lightning at Lance Creek died recently at his home north of Moorcroft.
John E. Schuricht, 88, who worked in the Lance Creek oil fields in 1915, was born April 9, 1889 at St. Paul, Ill., to John and Minnie Schuricht. He moved to Wyoming when he was 25. He was discharged from the Army in 1919 and returned to Niobrara County.
May 22, 1922, he married Alice A. Brahms in Lusk. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in May 1972.
In the spring of 1937 the family purchased the Flying E Ranch on the Belle Fourche River north of Moorcroft. Schuricht spent the remainder of his life maintaining and developing his ranching operations.
Survivors include his widow, Alice; a son, Bernard, Moorcroft; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, three brothers and a sister.
