Fred Root Dies Last Wednesday
Fred Keith Root, 63, of Shoshoni died last Wednesday in a Casper hospital after a brief illness. Funeral services were held Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at the Community Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Earle Harvey officiating. Burial was in Lakeview Cemetery with Committal Rites by the Masonic Lodge of Shoshoni.
Mr. Root was born May 27, 1905 at Lusk, to Arthur H. Root and Mamie Rider Root. He married Lila Hazard May 26, 1926 at Casper. The couple have been owners of the Shawver Hotel for the past 20 years.
He was past president of the Lions Club, past member of City Council and active in Chamber of Commerce. He belonged to the Masonic Lodge No. 25, AF & AM.
Survivors include his widow Lila of Shoshoni; a son Dr. D. K. Root of Casper; a daughter, Mrs. Calvin (Inez) Williams, Glendora, Calif.; his mother, Mrs. Mamie Root of Lusk; two sisters, Mrs. Evelyn Stark of Seal Beach, Calif., and Mrs. Avis Stone of Buena Park, Calif.; seven grandchildren.
