D. Ray Former Resident, Dies
Dee Ray, 67, Newhall, Calif., died April 17 of a heart attack while cutting horses out of a corral. He was on horseback at the time of the attack and fell to the ground. He was a foreman of the Randall Ranch that furnished stock for the movies. Death was instantaneous.
Funeral services were held at the Schrader Funeral Home in Cheyenne, with burial in the Cheyenne Olivet Cemetery.
Casket bearers were Carl Thoming, Jack Grieves, Louie Shook, Lawrence Ellis, Willis Bruce and Don Baldwin.
He was born to Del and Ethel Ray, July 12, 1903, at Newcastle, Wyo. When a small lad he moved with his parents to Cheyenne and surrounding areas. He was a drilling contractor for a number of years and lived in the Lusk and Lance Creek area for 15 years. He moved to Newhall in 1965.
One daughter died previously.
Survivors include his widow Isabella of the family home; sons Jack of Saugas, Calif., Keith of Newhall and Dean of Worland; seven grandchildren, one great grandchild; brothers, Glen of Phoenix, Douglas of Torrington and Frank of Gillette; a sister, Mrs. Winona Warren of Denver.
