Mary M. Porter

Mary M. Porter was born in Lusk, Sept. 27, 1926 to William and Viola Hawkins, and passed away in Chadron, Neb. on Jan, 31, 1993. She was 66 years old.

Her life was spent working in hospitals and medical clinics. She started working in the Spencer Hospital in Lusk, at 15 years of age while attending high school. She graduated from Lusk High School in 1947. After she graduated she worked at the Lusk Memorial Hospital until 1959 at which time she was united in marriage to Roy (Beeb) L. Porter of Crawford, Neb. She worked at the Crawford Community Memorial Hospital until 1967. She then went to worked for the Chadron Medical Clinic as a Lab, and X-Ray Technician until she retired in 1988. In her spare time she enjoyed gardening, golfing, bowling, painting and needlework. She was also a member of Chadron BPO Does.

Her survivor include her husband, Beeb; her daughter, Carolyn Dyer and son-in-law Ron; grandchildren Torie and Les all of Crawford; her sister Erma Harris and husband Tad of Casper; nieces Linda Whitaker of Casper, Delores Baker of Torrington, and nephew Richard Hawkins of Miles City, Mont. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.

Mary M. Porter

Funeral services for Mary M. Porter will be held today (Wednesday) Feb. 3, 1993 at 1 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Crawford, with the Rev. Vonda Crowe officiating. Interment will follow in the Lusk Cemetery.

Mrs. Porter died Sunday, Jan. 31 at the Chadron (Neb.) Community Hospital at the age of 66.

She was affiliated with the BPO Does.

Her survivors include her husband, Roy L. "Beeb" Porter, and a daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Ron Dyer all of Crawford. Also surviving are a sister and brother-in-law, Erma and Tad Harris of Casper , nieces Linda Whitaker of Casper and Delores Baker of Torrington, and a nephew, Richard Hawkins of Miles city, Mont.

Two grandchildren, Torie and Lex Dyer of Crawford, also remain.

A memorial has been established in Mrs. Porter's name for the Community Memorial Hospital, the Crawford Rescue Unit, or to a charity of the donor's choice. Donations may be made at the Crawford State Bank.

Chamberlain Chapel of Crawford was in charge of arrangements.
