Ford E. Porter
Ford Earl Porter of Grand Junction, died Sunday of natural causes at his home. He was 75.
Mr. Porter had worked in an oil field in Wyoming and then ranched in Basalt, Eagle and Burns counties. He retired as a driver for a linen company.
He was born Nov. 24, 1921, to Wallace Ford and Mildred McBride Porter in Mitchell, Neb. and spent his childhood in Nebraska and Wyoming.
He married Mercedes Penfield on Feb. 23, 1946, in Wyoming. She survives.
Mr. Porter lived in Wyoming, Rifle, Carbondale and Aspen before moving to Grand Junction. He was a World War II veteran.
Mr. Porter enjoyed crocheting.
Other survivors include his step-mother, Lois Hurt of Fort Lupton; a son and daughter-in-law, David and Carol of Las Vegas, Nev.; four daughters and a son-in-law, Susan and Joe Baldwin, Rhonda Porter and Carla Porter, all of Grand Junction, and Sandra Porter of Glenwood Springs; two brothers, Carl of Idaho and John of Denver; a sister, Lois Walberg of Alvarado, Texas, 11 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A brother, Mike Porter is deceased.
Montrose Valley Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
