Julian M. Phipps
Julian Phipps of Lusk died Feb. 4, 1986, at Niobrara Memorial Hospital in Lusk. He was 78.
Mr. Phipps was born Dec. 4, 1907, at Harrison, Neb., the son of James A. and Sarah T. Phipps.
He received his education in the Sioux County schools and was a member of the Methodist Church.
He married Juanita Christian June 4, 1928, at Valentine, Neb. Their first home was at the Phipps ranch south of Harrison. The family moved to Newport, Wash., where he had a shoe repair shop. Upon returning to Nebraska to make their home, he worked for Continental Oil Co. at Lance Creek. In 1949 he leased the Jim Christian ranch northwest of Harrison. He was still associated with the ranch at the time of his death.
The Phipps moved to Lusk last November. His interest in and love of the ranch remained strong.
He is survived by his wife, Juanita of Lusk; son, Bob of Harrison; daughter-in-law Shirley Phipps of Glenrock; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Rodney, his parents, a sister and three brothers.
Funeral services were held Friday, Feb. 7, at the Methodist Church in Harrison. The Rev. Alan Davis officiated. His six grandsons served as pallbearers. Burial was in Harrison Cemetery.
