Funeral services Held For C. Arden Pfeifer, Farm Accident Victim, Sunday Afternoon, Burial in Lusk Cemetery
Concluding services were held for C. Arden Pfeifer, rancher of Jireh area, at two o'clock Sunday afternoon, Dec. 4th, from the chapel of the Peet Funeral Home. Conducting the rites was Rev. Jacob Nein, pastor of the First Congregational Church at Lusk. A mixed quartet composed of Mrs. Ab DeCastro, Mrs. Floyd Alexander, and Don Unruh and Beryl Fullerton sang "Abide With Me" and "Rock of Ages" during the services. Mrs. Judson P. Watson presided at the chapel organ.
Interment was made in the Lusk cemetery. Casketbearers were Roy Elders, Emery Gaukel, Lee Thomas, Neil Grant, Reg Bafford and Harold E. Rogers.
Charles Arden Pfeifer, son of Chas. W. and Margaret (Atkinson) Pfeifer was born on the family homestead two miles north and six miles west of Keeline, February 17, 1911.
At the age of six years, he moved with his family to the present home at Jireh and at a later date lived in Lusk, Laramie and Douglas. In the spring of 1928, he returned with his mother and father to the home place at Jireh, where he has since been engaged with his parents in farming and ranching.
He met his death Thursday, December 1st, 1955 at the ranch as a result of an accident in the field while hauling hay with a team and wagon, the cause and circumstances of which could not be determined. He had attained the age of 44 years, nine months and 13 days.
Since his father's death in 1952, he and his mother have operated the home ranch. About the middle of September of this year, his mother returned to the home after being confined to hospitals since early April, and although she was still confined to a wheel chair, he took care of her as well as giving attention to the farm work.
Arden was a member of the Congregational Church of Keeline, having joined the Congregational Church of Lusk when a child.
He was preceded in death by his father. He leaves to mourn his passing his mother at the family home; one sister, Mrs. Norma Lacy of Trout Creek, Mont., who because of illness was unable to attend last rites; one brother Niobrara County Treasurer, Lavonne Pfeifer of Lusk, one niece and four nephews, and many neighbors and friends.

Charles A. Pfeifer Killed in Hay Rack Accident, Dec. 1, 1955
Charles A. Pfeifer, 44, was killed on the Pfeifer ranch near the Jireh community about 11:00 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 1. Although the exact time has not been determined, it is surmised that he slipped and fell from a moving hay rack and that the horse drawn rack ran over him.
Final services for Charles A. Pfeifer were held in Lusk Sunday at 2:00 p.m. from the Peet Chapel with the Rev. Jacob Nein officiating. Donley Unruh, Beryl Fullerton, Mrs. A. F. DeCastro and Mrs. Floyd Alexander sang "Abide With Me" and "Rock of Ages." accompanied by Mrs. J. P. Watson, organist.
