Jean Norton
Former Resident Dies In Lovell
Services were held Monday in Lovell for Mrs. John (Jean) Norton who died in the hospital there Wednesday following a long illness.
Mr. and Mrs. Norton and their niece, Virlene Norton, who made her home with them, moved to Lovell from Lance Creek in March of 1972 when Mr. Norton retired from Marathon Oil Company after 29 years of service.
The couple were the parents of three children, Mrs. Darwin (Joan) Johnson of LaHabre, Calif.; John Dean Norton, Jr. of Salt Lake and Lyle Norton of Carmichael, Calif.
The Nortons had come to Lance Creek in 1956 from Cowley and Mr. Norton was an operator at the gas plant here until it was turned over to automatic and then he was a pumper.
Mrs. Norton was born December 12, 1914. She was active in The Latter Day Saints Church; was a member of the Tanglefoot Square Dance Club and had served as president of the Lance Creek School Association.
She is survived by her husband, John; three children, eight grandchildren and niece Virlene and friends.
