Jesse Freeman Dies in Illinois

Jesse T. Freeman, 79, a resident of the Keeline community for 39 years, died Sunday in Mattoon, Ill. as the result of a stroke suffered two months ago.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday with the Rev. James Davis officiating. Jesse Freeman, Mr. Freeman's grandson sang as a solo "The Old Rugged Cross." A quartet of Al Davenport, Dave Wood, Mrs. Hobart Cockerham and Mrs. A. F. DeCastro sang "Going Down the Valley" and "Beyond the Sunset," with Mrs. J. P. Watson as organist. Pallbearers were Emery Gaukel, Leo Heins, C. E. Marvin, Dick Lee, James B. Smith and Dan Deilman . Burial was in the Lusk Cemetery.

Jesse Truman Freeman, son of Anderson and Mary Martin Freeman, was born in Clay County, Ill. October 15, 1882. He became a member of the Congregational Church at an early age. He married Hazel Altheia Mason December 30, 1906 and they were the parents of nine children. In 1910 they came to Wyoming where he took a homestead and also operated a store and served as postmaster in Keeline. He retired in 1949 and they moved back near Toledo, Ill. to make their home. Mrs. Freeman died in 1951. He married Amanda McKnelly August 14, 1952.

Survivors include his wife, six sons, Curtis and Warren, Keeline, Ralph of Pittsburgh, Penn.; Vaughn and Lee of Casper, and Arthur , Brush, Colo.; three daughters, Mrs. Helen Perlenfein, Fort Morgan, Colo., Mrs. Lucille Emery, Jay Em, and Mrs. Vira Haller, Casper; two brothers, three sisters, 19 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
