Funeral services for Martha Mary Neilson, 85, of Lance Creek were held April 23 at Lance Creek Community Church with Pastor Gary Walker officiating. Interment was at the Pine Slope Cemetery in Belle Fourche, S. D.

Martha Neilson died April 16, 1999, at her home following a brief illness.

She was born Aug. 26, 1913 in Butte County near Belle Fourche, to John Thomas and Mary (Koppneberg) White.

During the depression years she moved to Denver, Colo. where she learned the hair dressing business. She met Andrew A. Nielson in Wheatland while working as a hair stylist. They were married in El Paso, Texas on Nov. 17, 1936.

She moved to Lance Creek with her husband in May 1944, where they purchased the general merchandise store. She remained in Lance Creek until her death.

She was preceded in death by her husband on Oct. 16, 1984; a son Kenneth Lee Neilson; a brother Robert White; and a sister Isabelle White.

She is survived by three sons, Robert A. Neilson and David T. Neilson, both of Lance Creek, and Dean C. Neilson of Diamond Springs, Calif.; two grandsons and one great- grandson.

Memorial contributions can be made to the charity of your choice.

Arrangements were under the direction of Bader Funeral Home in Lusk.
