Services were held for Andrew Alcott Neilson Oct. 19, at 10 a.m. at Peet Mortuary Chapel. Rev. Dan Gainer officiated. Music was provided by Rose Kremers and Carolyn Hammond and Jeanne Gainer, singing "In The Garden" and "Abide With Me." Burial was in the Pineslope Cemetery at Belle Fourche, S. Dak., Oct. 19 at 3:30 p.m. Rev. Samuel Cushing officiated.
Andrew Alcott Neilson was born April 4, 1901 on his parent's ranch 7 miles west of Wheatland. He died at his home in Lance Creek Oct. 16, 1984.
He attended school in Wheatland and in Ontario, Calif. where his parents moved in 1911. He returned to Wheatland in 1919, living there until 1934 when he moved to New Mexico to work in mining.
On Nov. 17, 1936 he married Martha Mary White in El Paso, Texas. They lived in Wheatland from 1937 until 1941. They lived on the Diamond Ranch southwest of Chugwater, before moving to Lusk and then to Torrington where he was employed in a store.
On May 19, 1944 they purchased the general merchandise store in Lance Creek from Harmon Templeton. They operated it until they closed the store in February 1961.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Kenneth Lee and one brother.
He is survived by his wife Martha of Lance Creek; three sons, Robert Andrew of Lance Creek, David Thomas of Arizona and Dean Curtis of California; one sister, Elizabeth Deering of Wheatland; two grandsons; two step-grandsons and numerous relatives and friends.
