Mrs. R.V. Pfister, Niobrara Pioneer, Dies Here Friday

Death claimed Mrs. Richard V. Pfister, 72, at her home in Lusk on Friday, after several years of illness. Mrs. Pfister had been a resident of this section of Wyoming for more than 60 years, coming here in a covered wagon with her parents from Nebraska when she was ten years of age.

Mary Josephine Pfister was born June 22, 1879 at Albion, Nebr., the daughter of Joseph and Anna Mashek. On April 28, 1898 she was married to Richard V. Pfister at the ranch home of her parents, which is now the Charles E. Hunter ranch.

Mr. and Mrs. Pfister were the parents of two daughters and two sons. One of the sons preceded his mother in death on Sept. 25, 1929. A sister, Mrs. Barbara Rider of Denver is the only survivor of her immediate family. Her parents, three sisters and five brothers previously died.

Rosary services were conducted at the Peet Chapel at 8:00 o'clock Sunday evening and funeral services were held from St. Leo's Catholic Church Monday by the Rev. Father M. J. McBrien, at 10:00 a.m., with music by the church choir.

The casket bearers were Russell Bradley, Carl Bruch, Walter Farrell, Michael Cordell, Charles Blagg and Arthur Dalgarno. Lewis Freimuth substitued for Mr. Bradley who was unable to come from Cheyenne because of the storm. Interment was made in the Lusk cemetery.

Survivors besides her husband, R. V. Pfister, are her three children, Mrs. Mary Jane Geiser of Lusk, Mrs. Eva Farrington of Crawford, Nebr., and Henry Pfister of Wheatland, Wyo.; six grandsons, Richard Pfister of Lusk, Robert and Donald Pfister of Wheatland, Keith, Allen and Gary Farrington of Crawford, Nebr., and two granddaughters, Mrs. Patricia Brown of Lusk and Mrs. Betty Werner of Guernsey; and five great grandchildren, Bruce and Victoria Brown of Lusk and Phyllis, Connie and Ronnie Werner of Guernsey.

All the children and their families were here for the services, except Mrs. Pfister's sister, Mrs. Rider, who was enroute to North Carolina to visit a son who is in a military camp there, and it was impossible to contact her.

Mrs. Vernice Blagg of Lusk is a niece of the deceased and Art Mashek of Lance Creek is a nephew. Other relatives here were Mrs. Dorothy Hill, Mrs. Grace Frederickson, Mrs. Irene Hirschman, and Mrs. Grace Mashek all of Riverton, Mrs. Viola Smith of Denver, Mrs. and Mrs. James Mashek and Frank Mashek of Crawford, Nebr., Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Freimuth of Alliance, Nebr., and Mrs. and Mrs. Joseph Seitz of Hemingford, Nebr.
