George Aubry Miller

Last Rites Held Sunday for George A. Miller; Military Honors Are Accorded Deceased; Interment in Lusk Cemetery.

Concluding services were held for the late George Aubry Miller, 30, at two o'clock Sunday afternoon, from the chapel of the Peet Funeral home with Rev. Jacob Nein, pastor of the Congregational-Christian Church officiating. Mrs. J. P. Watson provided the organ accompaniment for a mixed quartet composed of Mr. and Mrs. O. E. Snyder, Mrs. Rudy Christensen and Gordon L. Hudson of Lance Creek, who sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Going Down the Valley."

Interment was in the Lusk cemetery where military rites were accorded the deceased by members of Weiten-Dupes Post No. 4, American Legion and the Lusk National Guard unit. Bearing the remains to their last resting place were M. J. (Mike) Miller, Robert Sides, Earle Townsend, Calvin Paisley, Warren Schrofel and Dick Quisenberry.

George Aubry Miller was born July 21st, 1924 at the ranch home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. R. "Pat" Miller in the Hat Creek community, and departed from this life on his 30th birthday anniversary, July 21st, 1954, in St. Luke's hospital.

George was graduated with the class of '42 from the Lusk High School. Following his graduation he entered military service and served at Camp Fannin, Texas.

In 1945, he was united in marriage to Miss Dorothy Harrington of Lance Creek. He had been employed in oil field work and with the exception of one year, the couple made their home in Lance Creek. It was while working in the Clareton oil field that he suffered burns in an explosion that occurred February 10th, 1954. His injuries were so severe and extensive that he was hospitalized from that time until the latter part of April in St. Luke's hospital.

He had re-entered the hospital on July 8th, and the following day had undergone skin-grafting. On July 21st, he was again in surgery for skin-grafting when his heart failed and he passed away that evening.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Dorothy Miller, three children, Dixie 8, Raymond 7, and Bobby 6, of Lance Creek; his parents Mr. and Mrs. A. R. Miller, a sister, Sharon and a brother, Pat all of Lance Creek and two sisters, Mrs. Joe Vondra and Mrs. Vern Vondra both of Lusk, Wyoming. He was preceded in death by a brother, Clell and a sister, Wyoma and all of his grandparents.

George Miller Dies Of Burns; Funeral Conducted Sunday

Funeral services were held Sunday from the Chapel of the Peet Mortuary, for George A. Miller, 30, of Lance Creek, who died July 21 in St. Luke's Hospital in Denver, Colorado, where he had been undergoing treaatment for third degree burns on his head and body, resulting from an oil well fire February 10 this year.

Reverend Jacob Nein, pastor of the Lusk Congregational Church officiated at the concluding rites and interment was made in the Lusk Cemetery. Pallbearers were Mike Miller, Bobby Sides, Warren Schroefel, Dick Quisenberry, Earl Townsend, and Calvin Paisley.

Dick Quisenberry of Lance Creek and Donald Bates were injured in the same Voss Oil Company explosion and fire.

Mr. and Mrs. O. E. Snyder, Mrs. Ruby Christensen, and Gordon L. Hudson sang "We Are Going Down the Valley" and "The Old Rugged Cross," accompanied by Mrs. Judson P. Watson at the chapel organ.

George Aubry iller was born July 21, 1924 at Hat Creek, Wyoming, the son of Mr. and Mrs. A. R. Miller, now of Lance Creek. After graduating from Lusk HIgh School with the class of 1942, he served with the United States Army, bring stationed at Camp Fannin, Texas.

In 1945, he married Dorothy Harrington and they made their home in Lance Creek. Three children were born to them: Dixie, 8; Raymond, 7; and Bobby, 6. Since his marriage, he was employed by the Newcastle Drilling Company of Newcastle, and in February, 1954, an oil rig exploded and he received third degree burns. Since that time, he spent considrable time in hospitals, undergoing skin grafting and medical care.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy, and children, Dixie, Raymond and Bobby; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. R. Miller; three sisters, Mrs. Joe Vondra, Mrs. Vern Vondra and Sharon Miller; and one brother, Pat. He was preceded in death by a brother, Clell, and sister, Wyoma; and all of his grandparents.
